The role of a Learning Support Assistant is a varied one and will depend solely on the needs of the student/students that you are supporting. The objectives of a Learning Support Assistant will also differ according to the individual requirements of each pupil. (I.e. supporting a student with social and emotional health needs to become more confident and socialise with other students.)
The role;
- Full-time Learning Support Assistant position
- Applicants are required to have previous experience supporting students or young learners in a similar environment and will be available to start immediately.
- Typical earnings for this role will be in the region of £1250 a month.
- It is essential that applicants will hold or be able to apply for a DBS and then register this to the update service.
Included responsibilities;
- Supporting an SEN pupil on a 1:1 basis in the classroom
- Providing targeted support outside of the classroom
- Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
- Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion manager to deliver SEN provision
- Developing social/emotional skills (depending on individual need)
- Working with teachers to monitor progress of pupils
- Accompanying pupils to relevant therapy sessions (depending on individual need)
The school;
- The school currently has around 900 pupils on roll. (Smaller than the average Secondary school in the area.)
- Located in the Great Lever area of Bolton, the school is just a short drive away from the M61
- There are extremely good public transport links in the area giving staff easy access to the surrounding areas Bury, Salford, Wigan and Manchester.
The school serves a vibrant and diverse community, rich with different cultures, languages. Their are different pupils with a varying range of academic, communication, social, emotional, physical and sensory needs. They embrace the fact that every child is different and make every effort to meet the needs of any child, regardless of aptitude, ability or special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
