Job description

The role of a Learning Support Assistant is a varied one and will depend solely on the needs of the student/students that you are supporting. The objectives of a Learning Support Assistant will also differ according to the individual requirements of each pupil. (I.e. supporting a student with social and emotional health needs to become more confident and socialise with other students.)

The role;

  • Full-time Learning Support Assistant position
  • Applicants are required to have previous experience supporting students or young learners in a similar environment and will be available to start immediately.
  • Typical earnings for this role will be in the region of £1250 a month.
  • It is essential that applicants will hold or be able to apply for a DBS and then register this to the update service.

Included responsibilities;

  • Supporting an SEN pupil on a 1:1 basis in the classroom
  • Providing targeted support outside of the classroom
  • Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
  • Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion manager to deliver SEN provision
  • Developing social/emotional skills (depending on individual need)
  • Working with teachers to monitor progress of pupils
  • Accompanying pupils to relevant therapy sessions (depending on individual need)

  • The school currently has around 900 pupils on roll. (Smaller than the average Secondary school in the area.)
  • Located in the Great Lever area of Bolton, the school is just a short drive away from the M61
  • There are extremely good public transport links in the area giving staff easy access to the surrounding areas Bury, Salford, Wigan and Manchester.
