About the Role

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit flexible and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work on an ad-hoc basis within Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools across Portsmouth. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy variety, are confident supporting pupils with additional needs, and want the flexibility to accept day-to-day or short-term bookings.

You will work with pupils who may have ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, MLD/SLD, physical disabilities, or communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN

• Assist with classroom activities set by the teacher

• Support behaviour management and emotional regulation

• Build positive relationships to help pupils feel safe and supported

• Adapt your approach to meet individual learning needs

• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support teams

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience preferred)

• A patient, calm, and supportive manner

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel)

• Flexibility for short-notice ad-hoc work

• Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
