1-to-1 Learning Support Assistant - Autism

A large college based in Northampton are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting children or adults with Autism to work on a 1-to-1 basis with one of their students. This role will involve supporting this student with his learning and daily tasks, including support when arriving and leaving the college. The student in question is currently studying more of a vocational curriculum, including Animal Care.

This role would suit a candidate who has previously worked in a Health Care position with adults with Autism, Learning Difficulties and/or Mental Health issues. Due to the nature of the environment and the age of the student you would be supporting, a Child & Adult Workforce DBS certificate would be required.

About the role:

• Part time position (3 days a week)
• Working with a young adult with Autism
• Assisting the student with entering and leaving the site
• Working across a vocational curriculum

The ideal candidate for this role would have:

• Previous experience working with Autism
• Experience supporting adults or older students with Special Needs is desired, but not essential if you feel comfortable supporting an older age group
• Strong behaviour management skills
• The ability to think quickly and adapt to a fast paced environment
• A willingness and desire to improve their own skills
• A passion for helping students with additional needs reach their full potential

This role is being recruited for by Teaching Personnel who are working closely with the college. In order to apply for the role, you must first be registered with us and have passed our vetting procedure. This includes a face-to-face meeting, appropriate references and sufficient DBS checks.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
