Learning Support Assistant - Arnos Grove

An outstanding special needs school in Arnos Grove are currently seeking a learning support assistant to begin immediately. The school supports 95 students with a range of complex needs from the ages of 7-19. They have recently renovated their facilities and added both a therapy room and sensory room to improve the learning environment.

Each class has a maximum of 12 pupils with two learning support assistants depending on the needs of the classroom.

The school cater to students with:

• Cognitive and learning difficulties Global delay
• Dyslexia Dyscalculia
• Dyspraxia Cerebral Palsy
• Down syndrome High functioning autism

Learning support assistant role:

You will be supporting students with Down syndrome, high functioning autism and dyspraxia. This requires 1:1 support and developing strategies in which you can encourage students to participate in their learning. Each student is given a tailored Education Health Care Plan that is followed; some students have communication difficulties which requires PECS and Makaton. Relevant training or basic understanding in this field would benefit for this role but it is not a requirement.
