Job description

A Special Needs Setting in Tameside are currently looking to appoint a full time Learning Mentor. This position is commencing in January 2018 and will run until July 2019. However, there could be the potential for a longer term position dependent on the needs of the cohort.

The school is a Secondary Special Needs School which currently has 75 pupils enrolled. The Setting caters for pupils with a wide range of needs including: moderate, severe or profound multiple learning difficulties. In its most recent 2016 inspection the School was graded as outstanding by OFSTED. Due to the specific needs of the pupil the Teaching Assistant should have an understanding of how to cater for young people with various needs.

This role will involve working directly with pupils who have difficulties challenging their emotions so it would be ideal for applicants to have experience whether it be personal or professional in working with individuals who have SEMH needs. In order to be considered for the role the Learning Mentor will have:

- A desire to pursue a career in education

- Experience in working within individuals with SEMH needs

- A commitment to assuring the safety and welfare of children and young people
