Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a large mixed comprehensive secondary school near to Uppermill. Due to a current restructure within the Pastoral department, our partner school wish to appoint a full time Learning Mentor to join their team at the earliest convenience.
Do you have experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour? Are you thinking of progressing into teaching in the future? If you have a qualification in Children and Young People, Youth Work or Mentoring - this position is perfect for you.
- Full time Learning Mentor role, ASAP start
- Working with vulnerable students and delivering mentoring sessions
- Covering a range of lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Creating Individual Education Plans for identified students
This position will incorporate working with students from KS3 and KS4 in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. The appointed Learning Mentor will manage behaviour effectively and motivate students to become reengaged with their education. Further to this, the successful Mentor will cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher, across the curriculum. This opportunity is great for aspiring teachers as there is the chance to build on classroom management strategies, and work with full classes.
- Earn up to £300 per week, depending upon previous experience
- Ofsted graded 'Good' secondary school
- Located in Uppermill, near to central Oldham
- Accessible via the A670
At present, there are 1,300 pupils on roll and the school wish to increase intake each academic year moving forward. In order to meet the needs of all pupils, the school aim to create a permanent position for the successful Learning Mentor.The school can be accessed via the A670 and neighbouring areas Mossley, Tameside and Rochdale. For non drivers, there is a direct bus from Oldham town centre that leads directly to the school.
