Learning Mentor

A school in Stockport is seeking a Learning Mentor to work within the support team after the Easter Break.

Applications for this post are welcomed from:

• Graduates – who are looking to complete teacher training at some point in the future.
• Individuals who have worked within support within a secondary school previously e.g Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Support Assistants.
• Those who have worked as Carers, or within the Healthcare industry owing to the need for compassion and empathy within the role.

Working as a Learning Mentor will enable the applicant to work with students with SEN. This will include pupils with Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia. There will also be opportunity to work with other students with a range of different health needs.

A strong academic background is desirable, as well as experience working with either adults or children with SEN. Regular training will be provided by the school and will enable the applicant the chance to develop their confidence within this environment.

Many of the students will be from disadvantaged backgrounds/are vulnerable, and so it is essential that the applicant can work to keep these students engaged, managing any pastoral issues should they arise.

Working in partnership with other support staff will be crucial in providing students with high quality support within the classroom.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
