As a member of the school community, the role of the teacher is to lead learning for, and with, all learners with whom they engage and also to work with and support the development of colleagues and other partners and work to the benefit of the pupils, their parents and the community the school serves, through pursuing the objectives and implementing policies set by the Headteacher and Fife Council Education Children's service, under the overall direction of the Executive Director of Education and Children's Services.

Responsibilities

You shall be accountable to the Headteacher/Senior Leadership Team and Head of Languages for the following duties:

  • Having excellent knowledge and understanding of the nature of the curriculum and its development
  • Having knowledge and understanding of planning coherent and progressive teaching programmes for all pupils under your guidance
  • Having knowledge and understanding of the principles of assessment and feedback fort the school
  • Planning coherent, progressive and stimulating teaching programmes which match learners' needs and abilities
  • Communicating effectively and interact productively with learners, individually and collectively
  • Employing a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs and abilities of learners
  • Having high expectations of all pupils
  • Excellent classroom control
  • Creating a safe, caring and purposeful learning environment
  • Developing positive relationships and positive behaviour strategies

 

The Individual

We are seeking to recruit a talented and committed teacher who is willing to apply new learning with enthusiasm. You should be confident and able to demonstrate they are an innovative practitioner. You should have a sound and detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant aspects of the Curriculum for languages as well as possessing strong interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate you have a commitment to the vision, values and core priorities in the development of education, teaching and learning which meets the needs of all pupils.

 

The School

The School is located in a very commutable area of Portsmouth with the closest train station a 3 minute walk away. Portsmouth has excellent links top the M27 and A3 if you are commuting by car and the school has a large car park for all staff.

The languages department delivers French, Spanish and German to KS4. Whilst it is not expected you should be able to deliver all 3 subjects, have excellent knowledge of 2 would be advantageous. The school takes part in overseas trips to help pupils develop their chosen language with the languages department heavily involved in the organisation.

As part of a large Academy trust the schools staff benefit from a large CPD programme with multiple opportunities throughout the year to extend knowledge and progress in your career path. The School attends a yearly conference with all of the schools within the trust to share best practise, liaise with contacts and refresh knowledge of the trust aims, vision and ethos.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
