I work with a pupil referral unit in Swansea and Carmarthenshire who are currently seeking an experienced teacher for a temporary based role. This school is overseen by the local education authority which provides high quality education for children aged between 11 - 18 years who display traits of emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) as well as social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
The role will entail leading a small class of pupils to reach learning targets. The pupils are known to be more challenging and attend the pupil referral unit due to be excluded from their mainstream school. The classes are smaller than mainstream and you'll have the support of several teaching assistants in the class.
The school are looking for someone who is confident, organised, who can use their own initiative to pick up from the hand over and take responsibility in supporting challenging pupils and help them hit development targets.
The ideal candidate:
- Must hold QTS in the UK
- Must have experience with SEN pupils and have support pupils with SLD.
- Have previous experience with pupils with EBD/SEMH
- Experience working with challenging behaviour or have Team Teach training (positive restraint training)
- Experience working with ASC children
- You will need to be confident, organised and be able to lead a team
- Flexible, adaptive and versatile individual
Should you require any additional information regarding this role, or to apply for the position, please contact Chris your SEN specialist on 01792 473 300 or via email on
I look forward to hearing from you.
