Intervention Primary Teacher – Stockport

March 2023

Teaching Personnel are currently working with an accessible and pleasant primary school in Stockport who are actively recruiting for a committed Qualified Teacher Status holder. They are currently recruiting for an Intervention Teacher to work with a selected cohort of their Key Stage Two pupils. The school was last rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has on-site parking, or can be easily reached by bus or tram.

The pandemic has stifled several of this school’s KS2 pupils’ learning, meaning that they are working below their year-level. Senior leadership of this school have therefore decided to bring on a part-time intervention teacher for these pupils to work with them on a more concentrated basis, focusing on their unique needs to ensure increased progress and attainment. Despite their lower-ability, these students are generally well-behaved and enthused to learn. With additional support, the faculty believe that they will be able to do well in their SATs exams.

This role requires candidates to register with Teaching Personnel before starting. Upon being cleared for work, the school wish for the successful teacher to begin as soon as possible. This also allows applicants to join the largest and most successful educator recruitment agency in the UK, opening many more doors in multiple schools around Greater Manchester.

This role will involve leading small classes comprised of groups of students selected by class teachers and senior leadership. Work will be prepared, but applicants are encouraged to develop lessons and tailor work to encourage maximum engagement. In particular, work will focus on Literacy and Maths comprehension, building on basic skills. The oncoming teacher will work across multiple classes determined by class teachers, dependent on their ability and functioning level.

Depending on demand, this role may involve one-to-one work with pupils in need of extra help. Hours will begin part-time, but this may be discussed and extended for the right candidate. After a successful trial period, senior leadership may offer a long-term school contract.
