Job description

We are currently looking for a KS2 Primary Teacher on a temporary contract , on a full time basis, with the potential to go permanent contract.

The School

Located in the south of Devizes, you will be working with a maintained community special school for students aged between 11 and 16 who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or a Statement of Special Educational Need (SSEN). In most cases the primary identified need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural difficulties, although the majority of students have additional special educational needs such as autistic spectrum condition, AD(H)D, speech, language and communication difficulties, opposition defiance and attachment disorders.

Key Areas of Work

- Leading and inspiring the quality of teaching and learning within KS2

- Embed the primary curriculum in the school

- Raising levels of progress and attainment for KS2 students

- Focusing on meeting the needs of the whole child

- Teaching mixed ability class groups of pupils with complex needs

Person Specification

- Qualified Teacher Status

- Knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2

- Knowledge of good practice in curriculum planning, development, assessment and evaluation of pupil progress including preparing pupils for the next stage of their education

- Experience and sound knowledge of teaching across Key Stages, in particular proven experience of teaching pupils with SEMH within mainstream or specialist settings

- Good understanding and proven experience of managing health and safety arrangements in the work place, to include education off-site / beyond the classroom
