Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (KS1)

Location: Darlington

Start: September 2023

A school in Darlington are in need of someone to provide specialist 1-2-1 SEN support for an Autistic child. Starting in September 2023 this role is initially for one term, however depending on funding the school is looking to take the right candidate onto contract permanently.

The school have set out the following requirements for this role:

  • Experience of SEND support (preferably Autism).
  • Hold a Level 2 teaching qualification or higher.
  • Hold a valid Child Only DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply for one
  • Experience with Primary aged children.
  • Good behaviour management skills.

The school is a friendly 2 form entry Primary school who have received a GOOD in their last Oftsed in 2017 and most staff have been at the school for a number of years, due to it being such a positive work environment. 

The Darlington based school holds a clear vision regarding the children, families and the school itself, meaning that everyone who is involve with the school are transparent to how it will flow and function. This has enabled all staff members to stay long-term with the school as it is a very enjoyable environment to work in.

A SEN TA is required for a year 1 child who has Autism, meaning he needs support when in school. This involves both facilitating his learning in class and accompanying and supporting him if he needs to leave class from time to time. A 1-2-1 member of staff is required in addition to the class’s TA to provide more specialist and tailored support, where one class TA simply isn’t sufficient.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
