Teaching Assistant role across Year 1 and Year 2

The school

A primary school in Rawtenstall have approached Teaching Personnel as they require a committed teaching assistant to start in September 2020. We have worked with this primary school regularly for the last year and candidates who have worked within the school has commented on how welcoming and supportive the staff are. The Head Teacher would ideally like to meet suitable candidates as well as carry out relevant social distancing/ video call interviews.

The role

As this is a maternity leave they are looking for a teaching assistant who is happy to commit to the role for the rest of the academic year with the potential that this role continues into the next academic year.

In the morning sessions you will be supporting small groups of children across Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2). You will be leading intervention sessions in the afternoon to boost children with Phonics, SPAG, maths and English. You will be given allocated time to plan the interventions and receive support from the class teacher with regards to the objectives.

The Head Teacher is looking for the following:

-          Level 2 or above qualification

-          An experienced KS1 Practitioner

-          Confident with delivering engaging interventions

-          Ability to work independently or part of a team

-          Consistent behaviour management

The Teaching Assistant role:

-          Full time

-          Working across the Key Stage 1 classes

-          Leading booster sessions in the afternoon

-          General Teaching Assistant duties

-          Flexibility to work across different classes within KS1 ( Year 1 and Year 2)

The role is to start on Thursday 3rd September 2020 on a full time basis. The Head Teacher aims to shortlist and interview by the 15th July 2020; however, with the current circumstances, it is possible this could change. Interviews may also be taken place over video conference call. Rates of pay are competitive starting at GBP10.00 - GBP11.50 per hour paid into your bank account on a weekly basis.
