Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Specialist Teaching Assistant for a Special School in Weymouth. The school caters for children with a range of special educational needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech, language and communication difficulties, and autism.

The school is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant which has experience working with children with Autism or have Speech and Language experience. The children are seeking a 1:2 support assistant for 2 pupils who are new to the school and require additional support adjusting to the school environment. Both pupils are largely non verbal and use PECS to communicate.

The school has specialist provisions for each child which can cater for their individual needs. Many children who attend this school have had a previously negative experience of school; therefore, the school helps to overcome this negativity and provide a specialist provision which can cater to the needs of the children.

The school are committed to giving our children a creative, caring and innovative learning environment for them to achieve their full potential in their education and develop their social communication.

Duties for this role include:

  • Supporting two pupils to get used to the new school routine
  • Allow pupils to explore that new environment
  • Ensure the safety of the pupils
  • Build a strong and positive relationship with the pupils

This is a fixed term temporary to permanent contract for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
