Psychology Graduate

A school in Tameside is looking to appoint a Psychology Graduate to take on the role of a Learning Support Assistant. In order to be considered for this role, a Psychology degree is required.

Applications are welcomed from those who have experience in the following fields:

• Youth/Charity Work.
• Experience working with either children or adults with learning disabilities.
• Prior experience working with children in some capacity (mentoring/tutoring/coaching)

This school is well regarded by Ofsted and has an outstanding SEN department. As the percentage of pupils with SEN is well above the national average, the school is looking for an individual who will be able to engage students with a range of individual needs. This includes working with those with SEMH needs. The school has a history of employing Psychology graduates, owing to the knowledge that they have gained whilst completing their related degree courses.

The applicant will gain experience undertaking the following roles:

• Learning Support Assistant – working with students on an individual basis.
• Teaching Assistant – working across a variety of different subjects.
• Cover Supervisor – covering lessons for absent staff when required.

Highlights of this role:

• Pay for this role up to: £1300 per month
• Potential for this role to be extended further than the initial 1 term.
• Shadowing full time members of the teaching staff, preparing the graduate for teacher training later down the line.
• Developing your own methods related to behaviour management.
• Gaining an appreciation of the various ways in which students retain information.
• Providing pastoral support, developing strong relationships with students which will in turn look to bolster attainment.
