Teaching Personnel have been contacted by a Special Needs School in Leeds LS4, who require a Year 2 Class teacher on a full-time basis for a minimum of a 1 term contract to cover the current Year 2 Teacher who is going on a 1 term secondment to another school from September 2020. This school is part of an academy trust and is located just a short drive from the city centre, easily accessible on public transport from Leeds and Bradford. 

Teachers must have:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience teaching in KS1 (Ideally in the last 12 months)
  • Able to travel to Leeds - LS4
  • Available full-time from September 2020

The school

Children at the school have a variety of special educational needs including autism, aspergers and moderate learning difficulties. Behaviour at the school is of a very good standard across the board, the school are therefore picking a candidate primarily on their teaching ability and style rather than behaviour management. The school encourage a calm approach to de-escalate the rare instances of bad behaviour, students with known outbursts of behaviour incidents often have 1:1 support in place to manage this. As well as teaching style, the Head wants someone who is experienced and knowledgeable in KS1 teaching and has a good level of knowledge and understanding of how to tailor lessons specifically for students with additional needs. This school is part of a very new and forward thinking academy trust and they welcome cretive teachers with a fresh outlook on excellent teaching. 

How do I apply?

If you fulfil the requirements for this role, then we invite you to apply by sending an up-to-date CV detailing your previous roles and the responsibilities that came with them. The Head would like to arrange video interviews over the coming weeks as they are unable to conduct face to face interviews at this time. They would ideally want someone appointed by the end of the month in preperation for schools re-opening before the summer holidays would be due to start, so that inductions can be completed if feasable. We will liaise with the school to organise these interviews.

Working through Teaching Personnel:

In this role, you will be paid a daily rate on a weekly basis by Teaching Personnel. The daily rate of pay will be negotiated once the school has selected a candidate they would like to appoint, and we will handle these negotiations as well as any issues relating to vetting, HR, absence on your behalf. Should the school want to keep you past the end of the first term, then that can be arranged through ourselves or a permanent contract with the school.
