Key Stage 1 Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant in Wandsworth and surrounding areas

My client is looking for an experienced individual who is able to work on a one-to-one basis, supporting a child with complex needs. The role is to start asap on a long term basis, potentially for the full academic year.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Effectively deliver a stimulating and nurturing environment for a child with complex needs who requires additional learning support
  • Regularly liaise with the Teacher and monitor aspects of pupil's behaviour
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/ Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes
  • Support and attend to the student's personal needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students
  • Be proactive and helpful within the School

Essential Skills:

  • Have confidence in working with SEN children
  • Able to communicate effectively with other staff members and build positive relationships with parents
  • Patient and caring nature
  • Previous SEN experience
  • Willing to undertake further training as needed

Desirable Criteria:

  • Recent First Aid Certificate
  • Any relevant SEN training or qualifications
  • TA or LSA qualification
  • Safeguarding and Child Protection training

Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for an enhanced criminal record disclosure to be undertaken, together with other safeguarding checks, including obtaining references from previous employers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
