Key Stage 1 Intervention Teacher

  • Part-time (Mon-Fri 12.30pm-3.30pm)
  • Immediate start
  • GBP20-30 p/h (depending on experience)

A school in Blackburn (BB1) is currently recruiting for a Key Stage 1 Intervention Teacher, this role is part-time and is currently temporary until the end of the academic year (July 2021), with the potential to continue until December 2021. The successful candidate would need to be available for an immediate start and would need to have the relevant experience across Key Stage 1.

The School:

This is a larger than average primary school which is of an average size. Feedback from pupils and staff within the school is overall positive and pupils enjoy attending the school. Children within the school are generally working towards age related expectations and behaviour across the school is good. The Head Teacher is keen to welcome the successful candidate into the school and is looking for the individual to be able to hit the ground running with the interventions.

The role:

The role will be to work alongside groups of children within Year 1 and Year 2 where the majority of pupils will be working towards age related expectations. The successful candidate will need to be able to enhance children’s learning in core subjects (Maths and English) ensuring that all pupils are working inline with the National Curriculum. This shall be achieved by working with small groups of children outside of the classroom, you will also be allocated sufficient time for planning throughout the week. This role is ideal for an NQTs looking to gain further experience in a mainstream primary school. NQTS and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.

As the school are looking for the successful applicant to start straight away, some of these sessions will be face to face and others will be online. You would be expected to be in school during the working hours and would have an area for you to deliver the sessions whether face to face or online.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Degree with QTS 
  • Experience using Letters and Sounds, Jolly Phonics or Read Write Inc. Phonics schemes
  • Experience supporting children within a Primary School setting
  • The ability to address gaps in learning due to school closures
  • Experience across KS1 setting
