IT Technician need as soon as possible in WF7

Here at Teaching Personnel I am currently looking to recruit an IT Technician to work at a client Secondary school in the WF7 area of Pontefract to start as soon as possible. The school is increasingly dependent on its ICT systems working properly and efficiently.

Ensuring hardware resources are well maintained and by ensuring staff, pupils are supported in using ICT for teaching and learning. You will be based in the ICT Technical office and will be the first line of support and also be willing to travel between neighbouring primary schools within the Multi Academy Trust. You will provide support to the Staff and Pupils of the school. Please see what you will be expected to do as part of this role below.

Responsibilities/ Duties

  • To provide first line helpdesk support to students and staff, contractors, visitors
  • To install new software, hardware upgrades and replacing components as required
  • To maintain the upkeep of the school I.T. inventory
  • To monitor & log helpdesk issues on the IT support request system
  • Supporting staff setting up and preparing equipment around the school e.g assembly setup, presentation evening etc
  • Setting up laptops, projectors, whiteboards, sound system as and when required ensuring they are ready to use
  • Restoring and transfer user data
  • Contacting 3rd parties as required
  • Experience of using Office 365 and Outlook
  • To provide basic maintenance and cleaning support for all computer equipment and networks, including the connection and commission of new equipment, and security marking.
  • Secure and safe setup of ICT equipment in classrooms
  • Check, record, monitor and advise on consumable stock levels
  • Install consumables. i.e. toners,
  • Replacing peripheral devices such as keyboard, mice
  • Using systems to setup accounts, reset passwords
  • Setup and install printers
  • Ensuring that as far as possible, pupils are not exposed to inappropriate materials on the network
  • To receive and check deliveries and associated invoices.
  • Ensuring virus protection is kept up to date

Essential Skills

  • Experience of Microsoft operating systems and Office packages
  • Knowledge of Windows applications
  • Health and safety awareness
  • Confident and able to communicate with people of differing abilities and age
  • Have good organisational skills

  • Knowledge of hardware
  • Keen interest in Technology and emerging technology
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience of providing customer service
  • Flexible approach
  • Ability to exchange information both verbally and in writing with staff and suppliers
