Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working with an alternative provision based in the Thackley area of Bradford, catering for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs who have been excluded from mainstream education.

The school are looking to appoint an Inclusion Support Worker (ISW) to work with pupils on both a 1:1 and small group basis. Experience of meeting the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people is essential. It is also highly desirable that you hold a current Team Teach certificate.

As in Inclusion Support Worker, in addition to supporting access to the curriculum, you will also be required to provide pastoral support to pupils, developing and maintaining effective and supportive relationships with young people and forming a point of contact for parents/carers. Your responsibility will be throughout the school, to extend the existing provision in order to support learning, participation and encourage social inclusion. You will be highly organised and an excellent communicator as a key art of your role will be to maintain home-school contact and to write regular reports, update and implement Individual Behaviour Plans, and provide feedback for students.

Essential Requirements for the role are as follows:

  • Experience of meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs of Young People
  • Able to effectively de escalate challenging behaviour (Team Teach trained or equivalent desirable)
  • Experienced in developing and implementing Education and Health Care Plans for individual pupils (EHCP)
  • The ability and confidence to Liaise with the senior leadership team to implement and sustain support programmes for targeted groups at risk of underachievement e.g. Looked After Children, Young Carers, or those in receipt of Free School Meals

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
