ICT Teacher needed for a Secure Unit

Teaching Personnel are looking for an experienced ICT Teacher in a Young Offenders Institute in the Stapleford area of Nottingham. The role is for four days a week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) and for at least 2 months covering a staff absence.

We are looking to recruit an ICT Teacher to teach ICT Functional Skills Level 1 and 2 in preparation for exams. It is imperative that you have experience working with complex needs and Mental Health Difficulties and it is also ideal for the candidate to have MAPA training (however not essential) in order to be able to de-escalate and also restrain young people as a last resort, in order to keep them safe.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

  • Experience teaching ICT at functional skills level 1 and 2
  • Experience of working with children and young people either in education or youth/support work/prison/secure unit roles
  • MAPA training is ideal but not essential
  • Confident to work on your own initiative, as well as contributing to a team
  • Good understanding of the National Curriculum at a secondary level - this role is working with 10 - 18 year olds
  • Confidence to manage challenging behaviour and re-engage students who are disaffected and not currently engaged in their education
  • Be able to participate in any extra-curricular activities required
  • Be willing to support students off-site where required, to try and re-engage them and encourage positive attendance records

Full Time Role Hours:

Monday 08:30 to 16.30

Tuesday 08:30 to 16:30

Wednesday 08:30 to 17:00

Friday 08:30 to 15:30
