Humanities Teacher with RE specialism

Job description

A popular oversubscribed school in Portsmouth are searching for an RE Teacher to join them from September 2019. The school boasts a harmonious environment in which pupils learn how to be successful in the modern world. This 'Good' (Ofsted 2017) school has a dynamic and creative approach to its learning, heavily involved with community projects and learning outside of the classroom to allow every pupil to access the curriculum.

Examination outcomes are above the national average for progress, whilst its attainment scores remain steadily in line with that of the local area. The school is non-selective, welcoming pupils from all across the demographic, no matter their background, religion or ethnicity. It makes for a diverse community of which the school is extremely proud and regularly celebrates through enrichment learning days.

The role

The school are looking for an ambitious teacher to join their humanities team from the beginning of the new academic year. The successful applicant will deliver a mix of humanities to KS3 and RE to KS4. The role will include the planning of the KS4 curriculum, with the Head of Department specifically requesting those with innovative ideas to become involved with adapting current schemes of work to allow the subject to relate to the modern world.

Applicants

The successful applicant will be well qualified - with UK QTS as a minimum. A degree in a related field and further teaching experience is desirable. They will consider NQT applicants who are able to provide outstanding mentor references. The ability to teach a further subject would also be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
