Job Title: HR Business Partner
Responsible to: Director HR
Location: Scarborough
Reason: To cover a maternity leave on a 1 years fixed term contract
Job Purpose:
- To partner with designated senior managers to provide HR support in all aspects of people resource planning and management, within the Institute's policies, procedures and legal requirements to deliver their Mission and Strategic Plan.
- To plan and deliver specific areas of the HR plan, ensuring that policies and practices are developed that are fit for purpose and reflect best practice within the sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- To meet regularly with the Assistant Principal/Principal to ensure that people Resourcing plans are aligned with the Business plan for the relevant areas and reflect the overall plan for the College.
- On an annual basis to support the designated manager and their team in the Business Planning process.
- To develop the HR strategy and annual implementation plan alongside the Director HR and HR colleagues.
- To provide a professional, proactive, customer focussed HR approach, both internally and externally providing HR advice and guidance to managers and staff on all aspects of the employee life cycle as required.
Specific Duties:
- Supporting the business planning process and working with HR colleagues to ensure a coherent approach across the College and group.
- Understand the agenda and issues for the business areas.
- Working with the HR/management colleagues developing HR practice on a delegated functional area: Build a robust plan to deliver significant projects/work programmes.
- Network and share resources where appropriate. Liaise with project stakeholders, including Governors, SMT and Trade Unions as appropriate on a regular and ongoing basis. Develop a communications and training programme to support college wide roll-out.
- Advise managers on basic employment law, company policies and procedures.
- Provide and maintain relevant management information to the Institute on a planned and ad hoc basis ensuring a move away from manual systems and a reliance on HR software and systems.
- Organise staffing for the College including contacting outside agencies when necessary to cover long term absences, interim posts, maternity cover and such.
Budget Responsibilities:
- The successful post holder is not a budget holder under the Group's accounting systems. However, the post holder will be required to observe and comply with the financial regulations of the Group at all times.
Continuing Professional Development:
- To attend training and continuous professional development events and be responsible for their own professional updating.
Health and Safety:
- To take reasonable care to safeguard their own safety and that of others with whom they work; To cooperate with designated officers named by the Governors and/or the Principal and any other designated Institute Manager to enable the Institute to comply with its obligations under Health and Safety legislation.
