Job description

We are currently recruiting for a strong HLTA to work in a year 4 class at a school in the Penzance area. This role will be to begin after February half term. This role will be full time, Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm during term time.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience working in a school environment, have good knowledge of the year 4 curriculum and be confident with behaviour management. You will be responsible for assisting students during whole class activities, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Good communication skills are very important in this role as you will need to communicate effectively with the class teacher on students’ progress.

The school are looking for somebody who is creative and has the skills to make learning engaging for students by coming up with engaging activities. Outdoor learning is important to the school and you will be required to use outdoor learning as much as possible. There will also be times you will be required to plan and teach PE lessons, help with school trips, and school events. The school are looking for somebody who wants to get involved with the school community and is enthusiastic.  

You will need to have a relevant Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools. Have excellent time management and organisational skills. Be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
