Exciting opportunity at a modern secondary academy in Northampton with a recent track record of good results and a consistent climb in performance tables.

  • Full time position for a History Teacher or Newly Qualified History Teacher
  • Paid in line with teaching scale point and responsibilities upheld (GBP24,373 - GBP40,490)
  • Working with an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ school in Northampton
  • Access to excellent training as well as real opportunities for progression

The school is a massive part of the community and want students to enjoy their learning and as a result aspire to achieve in all aspects of their academic and professional careers. The school work to ensure that students experience is founded on the schools five core values which were identified and defined by students: Community, Excellence, Resilience, Respect and Integrity.

The role is to start in April 2020 until the end of the academic year to cover a post operation recovery from a permanent member of staff that is expected to return to school in September 2020. Due to growing numbers in every cohort, there may be the opportunity for a permanent role in September 2020.

The successful History Teacher will join a team of committed and forward thinking practitioners who are dedicated to creating a love for learning. You will deliver a full History timetable across Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 which is inspiring and has clear aims and objectives in line with the current national curriculum which focusses on topic such as Elizabethan England, America and WWI. History is a popular choice at A Level, thus there may be some opportunity for KS5 teaching if the candidate is capable and interested in working with post 16.  Students’ progress in History is very good. In 2019, 78% of year 11 students who studied GCSE History achieved grades 9-4 at GCSE, above the national average and well above their targets. 

History Teachers applying to the post will be determind, enthusiastic and have a real passion for teaching the subject to eager pupils. A commitment to achieving excellent results for students through holding high expectations of themselves and others is essential. Other desirable qualities of the History Teacher post include being a real team player and being able to contribute positively to the faculty.
