We are seeking an outstanding practitioner of History to join an Ofsted rates ‘Good’ School located in the Historical city of Portsmouth. The school are part of a small Academy Trust that believe exceptional teachers transform lives, and so take a holistic approach to students and staff learning and wellbeing. We are therefore looking for a talented and passionate Teacher of History, who can align themselves with the schools ethos.

The candidate will be selected entirely on merit and 'School fit', so applications are welcome from NQT's and MPS teachers alike. The school would like applicants to know that they are a friendly and vibrant School community, open to innovation and keen on staff sharing best practise where possible. The approach the school take to discipline is to ensure that students are given the opportunity to turn around a moment or a lesson with a new start no matter their situation. The school have a new behaviour policy implemented since the new academic year in 2018 and have seen far less pupils removed from classrooms with an increase in progress scores for the first year the policy was implemented. The school are looking for practitioners who can implement this positive outlook throughout the school day.

The School is currently graded 'Good' by Ofsted, and the successful Candidate will contribute to their journey to 'Outstanding' over the coming years. Overall the School achieves a strong GCSE performance year-on-year, and the History department plays a key role in that success. The Department and its Staff are innovative and hugely popular, with History uptake at KS4 consistently high.

You must:

• Hold UK QTS or equivalent
• Have a relevant undergraduate degree
• Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
• Have a school based reference relevant to your recent teaching experiences
• Be a passionate practitioner of Humanities
• Have excellent subject knowledge
