1:1 SEN Support required for pupil with hearing impairment and moderate learning difficulties in Leeds SEN School
- Experience supporting pupils with Hearing and/or sensory impairments - Makaton/BSL would be an advantage
- Evidence of supporting a differentiated curriculum, preferably within a specialist setting
- Able to support the social, emotional and mental health needs of all pupils
A specialist school in central Leeds are seeking to appoint a specialist teaching assistant to support a year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis. The pupil has a hearing impairment and moderate learning difficulties, so experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential. You may also have experience using Makaton or BSL to communicate with learners and be familiar with PECs and Team Teach.
The role is to commence full time in September 2016, however availability for induction and to build a relationship with the pupil prior to this date would be an advantage. The school caters for pupils aged 2-19 with a wide range of SEN, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Multi-Sensory Impairments, and moderate and severe learning needs. You will be passionate about promoting independence and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. You will be able to work using initiative and work under the instruction of the class teacher to implement support plans.
Due to the nature of the pupil's individual needs, you will be required to support during lunch time to assist with feeding and personal care throughout the day.
