Curriculum Leader of MFL
Plus TLR 2.1 (GBP2,796) subject to any pay award
The Governors are seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner with a proven track record of success to lead the MFL Department. They will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a drive to improve the life chances of young people through education. The role is to develop and implement a successful well sequenced and interleaved curriculum which enables all students to make at least expected progress and provides an enjoyable learning experience for all that goes beyond school life. The successful candidate will be joining a thriving and growing school which has recently been judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in October 2019 and in September 2019 we welcomed 109 pupils for 93 places.

Due to the previous appointed Spanish Teacher letting down the school last minute, they are now seeking a Spanish Specialist with leader experience to appoint for their temp to perm role. The successful applicant will be: an excellent practitioner, a Spanish specialist, self motivated and hard working, able to set challenging homework in line with the school’s policy, passionate about the MFL curriculum and up to date with relevant pedagogy and apply this to their teaching.
Person Specification Experience
- A successful classroom practitioner who can teach MFL (Spanish) GCSE and KS3
- Skills and Abilities Be an excellent classroom practitioner, with potential to develop further
- Able to teach and plan MFL lessons across the age range
- Able to teach MFL in personalised groupings
- Enthuse pupils for MFL and all it entails
- Possess good ICT skills and be able to use them in their own teaching
- Able to communicate well, both in writing and orally
- Set challenging homework in line with the school’s policy
- To provide responsive feedback, whether verbal or written
- Set objectives that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds and abilities
- Use relevant data to establish high expectations, monitor progress and plan carefully sequenced and well interleaved lessons that support development of the long-term memory that is rich in knowledge
- Be responsive to the needs of all pupils
- Able to manage time effectively and work to deadlines
- To be able to develop academic vocabulary both tier 2 and 3 words
- Use strategies to develop the long-term memory through retravel practices and strategies
- Leadership and Management To contribute and attend Curriculum Leaders’ meetings
- To lead the MFL department
