WORK AS PART OF A DEDICATED AND SKILLED STAFF TEAM PROVIDING LIFE-CHANGING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN IN EDUCATION WITH DEVELOPMENTAL AND COGNITIVE DIFFICULTIES.

We have a rewarding and challenging position for therapy graduates in a special school for children aged 3 -17 with medical, cognitive and sensory difficulties based in Northolt, Ealing.

Roles are to start in September 2019 working as teaching assistants providing care and delivering individual learning/therapy plans to children on a 1:1 and 2:1 basis. Therapy graduates are ideal due to the theoretical and practical understanding of complex medical and cognitive needs.

This is a great opportunity for these seeking to gain experience working with complex needs prior to completing a Masters or therapy placement.

The primary needs of pupils are medically based with secondary diagnosis of autism, learning difficulties and social needs. Some pupils are supported in wheelchairs, non-verbal, profoundly disabled and may display complex behaviours. The school has a range of facilities for pupils with disabilities such as hydrotherapy pool, therapy suite, sensory and medical rooms.

Some pupils additionally learn in mainstream classes and confidence supporting academically in Maths, English and Science is ideal.

What would you need to secure this job?

  • MUST have UK recognised therapy degree or qualifications
  • MUST be able to travel to Northolt or based in Ealing or Hillingdon
  • MUST be open to supporting pupils with personal care (toilet support) and/or moving and handling (manual handling)
  • Having experience supporting medical conditions and disabilities is highly beneficial due to pupil needs
  • Commitment for regular work each Monday to Friday for a minimum of two school terms (full time or part time work)
