Learning Support Assistant

  • Do you have experience of working with children or adults with SEN; ASC/Complex Learning Difficulties?

Required as soon as possible a teaching assistant to work within a primary Special Educational Needs School in Liverpool. You will be supporting pupils with ASC as well as Complex Learning Difficulties. You will be working with a dedicated and dynamic team to help support pupils access to teaching and learning.

You will be providing class, small group work and one to one support to encourage and develop skills so children can achieve full participation in class activities.

Our client school is an over-subscribed community day school which caters currently for children aged 4-11 years. We are seeking a friendly and caring person who is able to establish positive working relationships with children. You will have experience in supporting either adults or young people either on a volunteer or paid basis, references will be required to support your experience in this field.

Your responsibilities will include:

*To encourage pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life.

*To support and care for the child in their toileting needs.

*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals.

*To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise.

*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.

Requirements for the role:

* Experience of working as a Teaching Assistant/ LSA

* Experience of working in a primary or SEN setting

* Experience of personal care

* Having a positive behaviour management qualification such as Team-Teach or MAPA would be beneficial
