What is the Future Teachers Programme?

The Future Teachers Programme is a scheme across England & Wales, designed to help address the current shortages of teachers, by attracting and supporting graduates who are considering a career in teaching, but wish to gain paid school based experience prior to starting a teacher training course.

How does it work?

You will begin your journey to teaching as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, on a full time basis, working at one of our client Primary schools in South Manchester (starting in September 2019). As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will build up the experience necessary to become an excellent future teacher. Working in a client primary school for a full academic year will allow you the opportunity to engage in a range of tasks to get a full feel of what it would be like to be a teacher. You will be supporting pupils with their studies in small groups and 1:1, assisting the class teachers across all departments including and getting involved with planning/delivering your own lessons.

Once you have completed a Year as a graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the experience necessary to thrive as a Teacher.

Am I eligible to apply for the Future Teacher Programme?

Applicants interested in apply to our Future Teachers Programme are required to be educated to degree level or have completed your degree by summer 2019. The school welcome applications from graduates across all subject areas including; English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Psychology, Education Studies, Childhood Studies this course maybe for you!! If you have a degree in another subject but feel this maybe something you would be interested in, please don't hesitate to contact Howard or Charlotte who head up the Future Teachers programme in Lancashire Primary Schools.

To be successful in gaining a position on our Future Teachers Programme, you must have a genuine desire for becoming a Primary teacher and must also be able to commit to the programme on a full time basis (Monday - Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm) from September 2019 until July 2020.
