  • Do you want to help students improve attainment, as well as offer guidance and support on as pastoral level?

A school in Tameside is looking for a graduate teaching assistant to join the support staff team for September 2021. As this is a graduate role, it is essential for the required candidate to be educated to degree level as a minimum. As a teaching assistant, the role will focus on helping a students (or group of students) both within the classroom and across the school site. The role will also involved supervising students on school trips, as well as standing in as a cover supervisor when required. As a teaching assistant, it is vital that the given individual is able to effectively understand the complexities that many children may face within the learning process. Knowledge of issues such as SEN, as well as being able to work alongside children whose primary language may not be English, is essential.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Constant monitoring of students’ behaviour, in line with school policy.
  • Assisting teachers with matters concerning assessment, examinations, attendance and pastoral issues.
  • Preparing educational resources, and ensuring that these resources are suitable for all individuals concerned. Ensuring that classroom resources and up to date, and that the classroom is in fit state for learning.
  • Working in line with recommendations made by Ofsted, as well as understanding the day to day complexities that many children face.
  • Helping pupils to understand the importance of being able to work independently, whilst also offering support in the completion of set tasks.
  • Differentiating learning to meet certain individual needs, such as for children with SEN.
  • Pay - GBP275-350 per week, based on prior experience.

The school is located in Tameside, within fairly close proximity to Manchester city centre. Additionally, there are several public transport links meaning that the school is easily reachable in a number of different ways. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
