Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a mixed comprehensive secondary school in the Farnworth region of Bolton. Due to an increase in student intake this academic year, the school wish to appoint Graduate teaching assistants to support pupils across the curriculum, cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher and work closely with class teachers.

It is essential that the successful Graduate teaching assistants have previous experience working with young people aged 11-16 to be considered for the above positions.

There are large areas designated to learning outside of the classroom for pupils that find it difficult to attend particular lessons. The role of the successful Graduate teaching assistants will be to work with identified pupils in learning areas, supporting their learning and reporting progress back to the class teacher. As there are a significant number of pupils at school with English as an Additional Language (EAL), it would be beneficial for the successful Graduates to have previous experience working with this requirement.

Another aspect of this position involves covering lessons across the curriculum in the absence of the class teacher with pre-set work. This opportunity will enable successful Graduates to build upon classroom presence, behaviour management strategies and confidence leading a large group of students. The school wish to meet Graduate teaching assistants at the earliest convenience, with the view of appointing successful teaching assistants immediately. The successful Graduate teaching assistants will initially join the school on a temporary basis from the start of the academic year, with the opportunity of securing a fixed term post from December 2019.

Located less than a few miles away from the Bolton City Centre, the school is perfectly situated to be accessible via the M61 and the surrounding areas; Bury, Wigan, Salford and Chorley. Public Transport Links are also easily accessible, with access across Greater Manchester.
