Graduate Teaching Assistant - Bolton

Are you a recent graduate wishing to gain experience working within a Secondary school environment? Are you planning to complete a teacher training programme in the future?

If so, Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with an well respected Secondary school based in Bolton that wish to recruit a Graduate Teaching assistant to join their support department from September 2018 on a 12 month contract.

  • Full time Graduate Teaching Assistant - September 2018
  • Working within an supportive school - Rated 'good' across the board by Ofsted
  • You can expect to earn £1000-1200 per month
  • Gain invaluable experience prior to starting PGCE

The successful Graduate Teaching Assistant will be working alongside the class teachers in a number of areas (especially Maths, English and Science). Full support will be provided from senior members of staff and there will be opportunities available to develop key skills which will be useful throughout future teacher training programmes.

  • You will be assisting the teacher in class helping them manage behaviour of students
  • Covering lessons with pre-set work in the absence of the class teacher
  • You will lead small intervention sessions with students that are behind in work.
  • Working alongside pupils on 1:1 basis

The school wish to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant who will be enthusiastic during lessons and isn't afraid to get involved and challenge pupils. It is expected that the successful Graduate Teaching Assistant will promote good behaviour and learning practices in class and be a positive role model to students.

The large Secondary school is located in the heart of Bolton town centre and has roughly 1000 pupils on roll. The school serves a good catchment area and pupils respect their teachers and peers. Located just a few miles from Bolton train station, the school is easily accessible via the M60 or M61 making the surrounding areas; Bury, Salford, Manchester and Wigan easily commutable.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
