When schools re-open children with special needs will need patient, pro-active and caring individuals ready to support and encourage their learning and development. Wellbeing and awareness of special needs including mental health, autism, disabilities and additional learning needs will be a vital focus of Special Needs Schools.
We have an exciting opportunity for graduates and aspiring special need teaching assistants starting in September 2020 in a Special Needs School in Uxbridge with video interviews being conducted due to school closures.

As a Graduate Special Needs Assistant, you will support children 1:1 or in small groups with learning activities, therapy and overall care. You will work collaboratively alongside therapists and specialist educators learning and experiencing new rewarding challenges each day. The school looking to appoint support children aged from 7 to 19 years old and a well known within the community for the additional provisions they provide for children across Hillingdon with special needs.

Graduate Special Needs Teaching Assistants are required for a September start on a full-time basis. It is a great opportunity in Uxbridge to gain invaluable experience and understanding of resources, therapies, care and approaches used to support children and young people with special needs.
All children within the school are diagnosed with a special need including autism, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties, social difficulties and speech difficulties. Learning and therapies are delivered through short interactive and sensory activities with pupils learning in-class, outdoors and within the local community.
Due to the varying needs of pupils, successful graduate special needs teaching assistants will need to be open to working across age groups and potentially supporting with personal care. Having previous care experience is highly beneficial as some children may also need support with moving and handling.
Requirements:
- Must be a graduate with a UK or UK recognised degree qualification
- Must be an aspiring special needs teaching assistant looking to roles in special need schools or with children with special needs
- Must live in Uxbridge, West Drayton, Northolt or local areas
- Must be available to start full-time in September 2020 (8:30 – 4:00pm Monday to Friday)
- Must have a positive attitude, pro-activity and be able to learn new skills quickly
- Having experience in care, special need setting or personally supporting autism, physical disabilities and speech difficulties is highly beneficial but not essential
- Must be open to on-going training and development
