A central Manchester based secondary school is looking to appoint a full time Graduate Progression Mentor to support Key stage 3 students in their core subjects (Maths and English). As a progression mentor you will work closely with students from the start of your appointment in January 2019 until the end of the academic year. You will need to be a recent graduate from either a Maths or English based background to ensure you are providing a high level of mentoring for the students to progress throughout the full two terms. As a Graduate Progression Mentor you will have the opportunity to increase your teaching skills as this could be a platform to enhance your career in education, especially those who are looking to progress into a PGCE/ ITT.
As a Graduate Progression Mentor you will:
**Need to be a graduate from a Maths or English based Subject
**Work alongside students on a one to one basis whilst monitoring their progression
**Provide Maths and English interventions whilst liaising with both departments
**Be paid on a weekly basis ranging from £275-£325
**Enhance your teaching skills with opportunities to progress and gain more experience
**Be in close proximity to public transport with an on-site carpark
The secondary school is centrally located and has been graded GOOD from their recent Ofsted inspection. The school priorities a supportive learning environment with the majority of students being successful with a high 'Average' Progress 8 score. The 11-16 secondary school is walking distance from the local train station. You can also benefit from the school's staff carpark as well as being located next to the A6 and A57.
You will need to be proficient in both Maths and English for this Progression Mentor role as you will be mentoring students from Key Stage 3 on a one to one basis. You will also support the students with Maths and English interventions and workshops alongside the Maths and English staff.
If you are looking to gain valuable experience with a secondary school and looking to make an impact with the student's academic studies, then this Graduate Progression Mentor position is for you. More importantly, this could provide a platform for graduates who are looking to progress into a professional teaching role as you will have the support of the school throughout the full two terms to improve your teaching skills.
As the position starts in January the interview dates will commence in December. To apply for this role please upload you latest CV and click the 'Apply' button. If you require more information then please get in contact with Ash via email or Phone on 0161 242 1794.
