We have a role starting after the February half Term within a Specialist Behaviour Base.

I am looking for a Behaviour Mentor to work within a thriving school environment. The roll shall be working alongside students with a variety of Special Educational Needs with a particular focus on challenging behaviour. This Large North Cardiff Secondary School has a behaviour base that focus's its support in this area.

As a Behaviour Mentor you will be involved in working with a particular child, and will also work alongside other support staff; helping to deliver tailored lessons that meet the specific needs of the students. You will actively support the student with academic development and also support them in meeting social and behavioural expectations.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a graduate who has a desire to train as a teacher or a psychology graduate who aims to become a clinical / child psychologist in the near future. This position would suit an innovative and cheerful graduate who has earned a second class degree or better and a true passion for SEN. Ideally, the school need a graduate who is able to display a varied approach to education and have an attitude that caters to all needs. The right applicant will have a success driven approach along with:

  • Experience of working with Special needs is desirable but not essential
  • Confidence in working with students with challenging behaviour
  • A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning
  • An understanding of how to establish positive working relationships
  • Ability to be a patient and positive role model
  • Available for work immediately

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
