Our client secondary schools located in the Tameside area require a number of general supply teachers for cover within their schools. Working with the majority of secondary schools in this local education authority; in excess of 10 schools, we have found ourselves inundated with work on a day to day basis. The role of a general supply teacher is to attend school on a flexible basis and cover lessons in a variety of lessons. There are plenty of opportunities to teach your specific subject specialism as the requests we get from schools are varied including general cover, part days or specific subject cover.

Highlights of this genera supply teacher position:

  • Pay will range between £100 - £130 per day depending on specific school
  • Variety of secondary schools available to teach and cover within
  • Opportunity to network in a wide range of secondary schools including single gender schools
  • Flexible day to day cover as well as block placements of a few weeks at a time
  • Requests to cover pre-planned school trips, short term sickness cover, longer term sickness and paternity covers
  • Day to day cover: no planning and marking
  • Attend school at the start of the school day and finish at the end; approximately 8:30am -3pm
    • Options for part days with specific lessons that require covering

Working with a range of different secondary schools, brings with it the opportunity to teach and cover at Ofsted rated Outstanding and Good schools as well as those schools that are more challenging with regards behaviour. Depending upon the preference of the teacher, there are plenty of possibilities to teach.

Working with most of the schools in the Tameside area, teachers that live nearby in Tameside itself or Stockport, Oldham and central Manchester will find them very easy to get to. There are schools that are located within walking distance of the local train stations, buses that regularly service these schools and of course the majority have access to car parking facilities.
