LEARNING MENTOR – PASTORAL SUPPORT TUTOR

  • Highly rewarding role

To provide support and guidance to children and young people and those engaged

with them to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning and to

maximize their potential.

Assist children and young people to make the transition between schools and

at key points in their education

? Assist children and young people to make the successful transition through

different key stages

? Provide administration support to the AH and Progress Coordinator

? Ensure the continuity of support to children and young people throughout the

process of transition

Contribute to the pastoral support of children and young people maximize

Community College

? Contribute to supporting children and young people entering or returning to

college in order to identify any barriers to learning

? Work closely with others in the college to achieve a full and shared understanding

of the needs of individual children and young people

? Support individual children to overcome barriers to learning

? Identify the barriers to learning for individual children and young people and

facilitate appropriate forms of provision to meet them

Develop and maintain effective and supportive relationships with children and

young people

? Establish and develop effective supportive relationships with children and young

people with barriers to learning

? Provide effective liaison between the college and families under the direction of

the PC

? Operate within agreed legal and ethical boundaries when working with children

and young people

Establish and develop effective supportive relationships with children and

young people with barriers to learning, through the direction of the AH and PC

? Agree ways of working together which maintains trust and engagement

? Agree how information will be used and exchanged with others

? Agree how liaison with families or carers will take place and how the child or

young person will be involved
