Are you graduate and aspiring teacher? Would you like to gain valuable experience of working in secondary schools while earning? Do you feel you could make a positive impact on a child’s learning?

The Hexham and Newcastle Catholic Diocese are seeking to appoint a team of graduates to work in secondary schools across the diocese from March 2017. The role of the graduates will be to work under the supervision of the class teacher to support pupils’ learning.

The role will involve supporting pupils’ across the curriculum. This may include supporting pupils in the classroom or delivering support on a one to one or small group basis. Some of the graduates recruited may also be required to deliver lessons in the absence of the teachers.



As the successful graduates will be required to work in number of diocese schools, a UK driving license and access to transport would be advantageous, although not essential. Graduates will have the opportunity for flexible working; the Hexham and Newcastle diocese is able to offer both fulltime and part time work, making the position ideal for those who are continuing their studies or have other employment commitments.

The ideal candidates will:



• be educated to at least degree standard

• Be pro-active, enthusiastic, energetic and reliable

• Be eligible to work in the UK

• Hold a UK driving license and have access to own transport

• Be sympathetic and supportive of Catholic faith and school ethos

• Enthusiastic about working with children

The role would be ideal for graduates considering a career as Teacher and those wishing to gain more experience before applying for a PGCE or SCITT training course.
