Future Teachers Programme - Trafford

The Future Teachers Programme is designed to help address the teacher shortages across England & Wales by attracting bright graduates who are considering a career in teaching, but wish to gain practical experience before enrolling in initial teacher training (ITT). Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit graduates to place on the Future Teachers Programme at one of our client training schools in Trafford, particularly those with specialisms in Maths, MFL or PE, though all subjects will be considered.

The Future Teachers Programme provides graduates with school based experience by working in a secondary school as a learning support assistant. The roles can be in your subject specialism, dependant on your degree subject, but you will be working alongside fully qualified teachers providing additional classroom support supporting students on a small group or 1:1 basis.

You will also be given the opportunity to support students who have moderate learning support requirements such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and social emotional mental health support. The Future Teachers Programme will give you the opportunity to secure a place on an ITT programme directly with our client training school or to apply independently for a PGCE programme thorough a University training provider.

This school-centred initial teacher training is delivered in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, consisting of an intensive summer school followed by a combination of classroom practice and relevant training. The training has been rated Good by Ofsted and the school do not consider their job complete until their trainee teachers have secured their first teaching role, so this really is a fully supported and exciting placement.

The school itself is also rated Good, and has a real focus on the development of its pupils, encouraging themes of high aspirations, high standards and continuous improvement. It prides itself on nurturing the whole person and strives to help pupils to achieve their full academic potential. Located just off the M60 and close to the A56, the school is also easily accessible by bus and tram, making it a convenient commute, irrespective of whether you possess your own transport or not.

Desirable/Essential criteria for the role;

  • Suitable employment or educational based references
  • University degree
  • Application for a fully enhanced DBS certificate
  • Passion for education and working with young people
  • Desire to become a teacher in the future
