Job description

Teaching Personnel are recruiting applicants for our Future Teachers programme. The Future Teachers programme is designed to help address the teacher shortages across Wales by attracting and supporting bright graduates who are considering a career in teaching, but wish to gain practical experience before enrolling in formal teacher training.

To help our applicants gain a broad experience of life in school, Teaching Personnel offers ongoing support through access to professional development courses and lesson resources. Throughout the placement the graduate will work on site at the school and will be assigned a mentor.

We are offering this program across different areas including Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthen, Llanelli and Pembrokeshire.

Key Responsibilities:

- Acting as a cover supervisor/teacher covering classes, assisting with planning and preparing schemes of work

- Assisting in raising attainment through 1:1 and small group interventions

- Offering 'in class' subject specialist support

- Supporting students with special educational needs

- Being a key part of the school community and ensuring student welfare

Desirable applicant attributes:

- Degree qualified and subject specialist

- Outgoing, confident and easily relatable

- Keen to progress into a career in education

- Experience of working with students/young adults in some capacity (not necessarily school based)

- Willing to try a variety of schools and environments in order to secure a long term role
