Functional Skills Teacher

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a school in Wakefield (WF1) that caters to children with a wide range of needs across 3 sites. The dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

The school prides itself in steering children in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, it builds confidence in our students so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.


Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the learning and the achievement of all pupils
  
  
• Know how to make effective personalised provision/effectively provide differentiated tasks for pupils;
  
  
• Use assessment as part of teaching to diagnose needs, set realistic targets for improvement, and plan future teaching.
  
  
• Encourage pupils to respond to feedback, reflect on progress, and to take a responsible attitude to their own work and study.
  
  
• Track and monitor progress, and deliver interventions where appropriate.
  
  
• Promote the social and emotional development of children through positive approaches
  
  
• Manage behaviour constructively by establishing a clear and positive framework for discipline, in line with the school's behaviour policy
  
  
• Promote learner's self-control, independence and cooperation through developing their social, emotional and behavioural skills.
  
  
• Aware of how development or well-being is affected by changes or difficulties in their personal circumstances, and when to refer them for specialist support.
  
  

Essential Criteria

• Must be educated to degree level or be of Qualified Teacher Status
  
  
• Equivalent to A Level in English
  
  
• Must have experience in teaching Key Stage 3, 4 and 5
  
  
• Ability to use ICT effectively for teaching
  
  
• Understanding of the curriculum in order for successful planning and delivery
  
  
• The ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
  
  
• Resilience
