Year 7 Catch Up Mathematics Graduate

12 month placement

Full time Year 7 Catch up Mathematics Graduate required from September 2019, for a secondary school based in Chorley

The Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Premium gives state-funded schools additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or Mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2).

If you are confident Mathematics Graduate with experience working with young people, then Teaching Personnel want to hear from you!

An over subscribed and contemporary secondary school in Chorley is looking to employ a group of subject specialist graduates to join their successful school, in given departments. You will be working as an intervention specialist in your subject, covering lessons in school and teaching KS3 Maths

  • Full time Mathematics Graduate starting in October 2019
  • 12 month placement
  • Full time contract
  • Mainstream secondary school based in Chorley
  • Ofsted rated 'good'
  • Must hold subject specific qualifications within Mathematics to be considered, alongside experience working with young people (minimum 6 month experience - including voluntary)
  • Earn up to £1200+ per month, dependant upon qualifications and experience.

The incoming Mathematics Graduate Tutor will be required to support with the transition for Year 7 pupils up coming from Key Stage 2 in Mathematics. The bridge between them and their peers can be prevalent when assessed against national expected averages within Mathematics, and the introduction of Mathematics Graduate Tutors can help to reduce this.

  • Extensive subject knowledge is essential; previous experience supporting within a Mathematics department will be highly advantageous
  • Confidence in ability to build positive relationship with pupils and promote a Growth Mind-Set
  • Deliver Mathematics sessions at Key Stage 3 level to pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and deliver pre-planned Maths sessions to low achieving pupils.
