With schools now closed due to COVID-19, schools are working closely with Teaching Personnel to begin their recruitment drive for September.
A school in Tameside is looking for an enthusiastic Food Technology teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis.
The required applicant will
- Hold QTS
- Be educated to degree level. A degree within the realm of Food Technology or a related subject is very desirable.
Requirements for the role:
- It is important that as the applicant will be joining the Technology department, that they are comfortable working as part of a team. It is also crucial that the required applicant will quickly be able to develop a rapport with students. As an effective Food Technology teacher, the required applicant will be able to:
- Demonstrate basic principles related to storage of food, cross contamination and general cleaning.
- Express the importance of good food safety, and is able to apply a framework from which all children are able to adhere to.
- Competence in the delivery of national standards for the subject, in direct connection to school curriculum.
- Successfully manage children with SEN, and ensure that any work set is suitable for these children, as well as those who may require EAL support.
- Work with a range of children across differing abilities and ages. It is vital that the required applicant will be able to display confidence across a broad range of different students.
- Instil a culture that centres around ensuring that the whole school gains knowledge of the importance of issues such as healthy eating and positive nutrition.
- Be able to manage behaviour expectations in line with school policy, as well as work in line with recommendations made by Ofsted.
- Managing expectations as laid out by senior leadership, as well as by subject leaders, ensuring an accessible and inclusive learning process.
- Work with other support staff to identify pupils who may require extra support, as well as being able to implement interventions to best benefit a student’s progress.
- Encourage students to be creative, developing an essential life skill.
