Food Technology Maternity Cover

Contract type: Full-time, Temporary (Maternity Cover)

Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity for a Food Technology teacher to join our partner school in Tameside.

Due to a staffing requirement within our partner schools Design Technology department, the school now has a temporary position for a Food Technology teacher to join the school on a full-time temporary basis from April 2019. Our partner school is located in Denton, Tameside a short drive from the Manchester ring road and easily accessible via Metro links from the city centre and public bus routes. In their most recent Ofsted inspection (July 2018) the school received 'Good' in all areas including effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare. It is a co-educational secondary school with places for around 1300 pupils 11-16 providing a dynamic and deep curriculum, with the intention of ensuring that every pupil is given the opportunity to explore the subjects they enjoy.

The successful Food Technology teacher will take responsibility of teaching KS3 and KS4 Food Technology across a range of abilities. They will join a hard-working and passionate department. Full support will be provided from the Head of Department and members of the Design Technology department. Within our partner school, good design, creativity and developing good safe practical skills are at the heart of Design and Technology. In Food Technology students combine practical and technological skills with creativity to design and make products that meet human needs, They learn how to use new technologies and consider impact of future developments. This is a popular subject with students and has a high profile in the school with examples of students' work exhibited or used throughout the school.

Facilities for learning in Design and Technology are excellent. The faculty has a suite of well equipped wood and engineering workshops. There is a well equipped food room and up to date IT suites with PC's running up to date and relevant software packages. Students are taught by specialist staff in all areas.
