Flexible Supply Teacher - September 2026
Job description
Flexible Supply Teacher
Durham & Sunderland, Secondary, September 2026 Start
Teaching Personnel is recruiting Supply Teachers across Durham and Sunderland for a September 2026 start.
Supply teaching is an increasingly popular choice for experienced teachers who want to remain in the classroom without the workload that comes with a permanent post. No planning to take home, no marking pile building up over the weekend.
If you're already working through an agency but feel like you're not getting the support, the schools, or the rates you deserve, it might be time for a change.
Teaching Personnel works with a wide network of secondary schools across Durham and Sunderland. Whether you're looking to try new schools in the new year, switch things up after a frustrating experience elsewhere, or simply find an agency that actually invests in its educators, we'd like to hear from you.
With consistent demand across both areas and a Guaranteed Work Scheme available for those who want financial stability alongside flexibility, Teaching Personnel offers reliability and transparency
What the role involves:
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects at KS3 to KS4
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively across a variety of school settings
- Keeping students engaged and on task in a teacher's absence
- Following individual school procedures and providing brief handover feedback
- Adapting confidently to different schools and year groups
To be considered:
- QTS or equivalent
- Experience teaching in UK secondary schools
- Confident classroom management skills
- Flexibility to work across different schools when required
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
What Teaching Personnel offers:
- £130–£170 per day depending on experience
- Weekly pay via PAYE (NO UMBRELLA COMPANIES)
- Full control over your working pattern — full-time, part-time, or ad hoc
- Guaranteed Work Scheme for financial stability
- Free CPD and ongoing professional development
Send your CV to isaac.joyce@teachingpersonnel.com or call 0191 223 5071

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
