Final Year Students
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
We are actively looking to recruit Final Year Students (B.Ed Primary Education with QTS or PGCE) to work within Primary schools in Cardiff (covering CF14, CF24, CF23, CF10, CF3, CF5 and CF15 areas) and who would look to get the opportunity to be offered a place on our selective Guaranteed Work Scheme for Newly Qualified Teachers. To start : Summer Term 2019 or September 2019 We understand that the first year of being a Qualified Teacher can be very daunting and that the avenues are so broad that it's sometimes hard to know where to start. Supply teaching is the perfect way to get a foot in the door of several local schools giving you the opportunity to :
- Build your experience with different year groups, classes and environments
- Prove your 'worth' to schools looking to recruit teachers for long term cover (potentially to turn permanent)
- Be selective with the school you wish to complete your NQT year in as opposed to applying for permanent roles which you could realise half way through may not be right for you
- Be guaranteed work as of the first day of the 2019/20 academic year
What is Supply Teaching work ? Supply teaching is ideal for qualified teachers who are looking for flexibility within their working week and enjoy experiencing different areas, schools, year groups and classes. You will be contacted on a weekly and/or daily basis (at you preference) to check on your availability for the upcoming week and which days you will be available to work. We also organise advanced bookings for schools (for example maternity/paternity cover, short term sickness, course cover, etc.) in which you will know about the booking in advance and will be able to organise your diary ahead.
The supply daily pay rates usually average between £90 and £100 based on the school and of course on your background, and you can even make up to £110 in a full classroom role (if you are looking for consistent work within the same school/class) with the full flexibility of agency work! You must be a well organised, efficient and reflective practitioner with high expectations of child development, learning and behaviour.
Applicants must :
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
- Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
- Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) - please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
- Provide two professional or character references
- Be available to interview and/or trial asap
- Be available to start on short notice
- Be living in South Wales and/or have plans to move to South Wales in the near future and/or be willing to travel to South Wales
If you would like to apply for this position, please send your up-to-date CV to the South Wales Primary Branch along with a short cover statement.
Please note - if the above role isn't quite right for you BUT you would still like to engage in a position within the education sector, please be advised that we are currently recruiting for several roles to start ASAP, throughout South East and South West Wales, within all year groups from Nursery to Year 6. You can forward you CV or contact us via telephone for further information.
