EYFS Teaching Assistant, Walton-Le-Dale

An Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ primary school are looking to appoint an engaging and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide full-time support in Early Years Foundation Stage from January 2021 until the end of the academic year, with the potential of a school contract following a successful period of probation.
The primary school in which this role is situated is located in Walton-Le-Dale. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils known to be eligible for support through the pupil premium is in line with the national average and the proportion of children with special educational needs is above the national average. The school endeavour to provide children with an education that allows and encourages them to achieve their true potential and an environment where the children feel happy, valued, safe and secure. Each child is treated as an individual and skills and talents are celebrated. The Head Teacher, as well as the school’s committed team of staff, are welcoming, approachable and are eager to support new members of staff to ensure they feel happy in the work that they do.
The teacher of the class is looking forward to having another pair of hands to support the newcomers of the school and to help provide a happy, friendly setting for the new children. Behaviour of the children who attend the school is good. They enjoy coming to school because they find learning interesting.
Experience of supporting children with autism is essential to the role, due to the high proportion of children diagnosed in the class. Recent Early Years experience would be beneficial but is not essential. Knowledge of the Phonics curriculum and strategies for teaching the subject would also be invaluable, as it will be expected that the successful candidate will deliver a daily phonics sessions to a small group of pupils, using the DfE Letters and Sounds phonics resource.
Job Role:
- To work alongside and provide support to the Early Years Class Teacher
- To create a safe and secure learning environment for all children to thrive and develop
- To support children with social, emotional and physical development
- To ensure all inside and outdoor learning spaces are reading for learning
- To deliver a daily Phonics session to a small group of pupils
Essential Qualifications and experience:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant or above
- Recent experience of supporting children with Autism
