An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Preston area. The opportunity is to work 30 hours a week as a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant in the large EYFS department in school. The department welcomes a total of 60 children to attend across two classes; consisting of 2 dedicated teachers; 5 teaching assistants consisting of 1 SEN support, 1 HLTA and 3 general learning support assistants.
The role will specifically be to support the children working in the EYFS department; working to enhance their learning opportunities in order to develop their language and communication skills as well as their academic and social ability. You will be involved in the structured learning activities planned by the class teachers as well as the areas of the department where children can have the choice on what they would like to do. Your role will be to facilitate the children in their learning experience and also assess through regular observations and questioning. With these assessments you will then meet with the class teachers to discuss next steps in learning and how best to support the child in the term. You may be expected to have input in this area and the class teachers may want you to contribute towards planning and resources. It is therefore important that you are comfortable with this and have recent experience in exercising these skills.
The school welcomes a mixture of children from a variety of social and religious backgrounds to attend the EYFS unit. The staff go above and beyond to ensure all children are given the best opportunity to reach their expected EYFS assessments ready for the step up into KS1. You, as the successful candidate will be expected to embrace this attitude and instantly build solid working relationships with the children and parents. To enhance learning opportunities the school have recently transferred over to using Jolly Phonics as their main Phonics Scheme in the department. This is used to develop language skills as well as early reading. The staff are trained to use this scheme and would expect any new member of staff to be comfortable with this, through training or prior experience.
Please do not hesitate to send your CV to my email account or contact me for more information (until schools reopen).
